Creating your own profile is one of the most fun and important things you will do at SoulWeavers. Whether you are a Basic or Premium Member, you will have your own profile -- a place where you can authentically express who you are.

How do I create my profile?
As soon as you login for the first time, you will be taken directly to the "My Profile" page. There you will find three main sections, each created to help you share about yourself and what you're looking for. They include: a Photo Section, a Private Info Section, and a Profile Section. The Profile Section is divided into three subsections: the Basics, Personal Interests and Essay Section. (For more specific descriptions of these, read below). Once you’ve made your profile REMEMBER to press the "Update My Profile" button.

How does the Basics Section work?
Here you can share basic information about yourself by filling the blanks and choosing from the various pull-down menus. Though it is always best to give as complete a picture as possible, much of this section is optional. There are a few fields, however, that must be filled out. These are marked with little stars (*).

At the end of this section, you will have the chance to make a few “update requests.” Depending on which boxes you check, we’ll let you know:

• if and when someone puts you on their List of Favorites
  
• when someone sends you a message
  
• whenever anything new or interesting happens at SoulWeavers.

We encourage you to make use of these features, which is why we pre-check the boxes. If you’re not interested, just uncheck the boxes by clicking on them.

How does the Personal Interests Section work?
This section allows you to post your favorite quote and attempt the challenging yet educational task of boiling your most essential qualities down to 7! This section also gives you a chance to share some of the ways you nourish your mind, body, spirit, creativity and romantic self.

About the Essential Qualities Section:
Of course, you are a multi-faceted human being, and you can’t be described with a few measly words! However, there is something to be said for the process of tweaking! So have fun with this and approach your essence!

How does the Essay Section work?
This section is pretty straight forward. It is a place where you can share about who you are (and what you’re looking for) in your own words. To us, this is the most important part of the profile. We want to give you the opportunity to share more than facts about yourself, so we’ve provided some thought-provoking questions to facilitate the process. Feel free to answer the question/s that speak to you. Only those you have answered will appear on your profile.

For some people, this section is a joy. For others, it can feel awkward and difficult -- especially for those who feel uncomfortable talking about, “promoting” or “selling” themselves. We remind you that the most important thing here is to be real. If your path has led you here, chances are you have many wonderful qualities worthy of sharing, just as you have many lessons to learn. We welcome your humanness and hope that you do the same. (And don’t forget; you don't have to do it all at once, and you can always ask a good friend for help!)

A Word for the Wise:
The more energy you invest in the Essay Section of your profile, the more you will get out of your SoulWeavers experience. We believe that engaging fully in such a clarifying process can be a valuable, powerful act. We also believe that the more you know who you are and what you want, the more likely you are to attract kindred souls to you. So please take this opportunity, and be open to experiencing connection -- wherever you find it!

How do I edit my profile?
Your profile can be edited at any time. Simply click the "My Profile" link and make your desired changes. Once you’ve made them, press "Update My Profile" button .

We encourage you to keep your profile alive. Updating your profile regularly will increase the chances of it being seen by others. Besides, people grow and change all the time. Why shouldn’t your profile grow along with you?

What information do I have to include when creating my profile?
Technically, you can create a profile without providing much information about yourself. You are only required to fill out the fields that are marked with a star (*). However, we strongly encourage you to provide as much information about yourself as possible. What’s the point of having a profile if it doesn’t have soul?! Ultimately, we want our community to consist of people who take this process seriously, and who are willing to give something of themselves in order to get something in return.

How much of the information I enter will actually be displayed?
Your profile will only be displayed if you are a Premium Member. Assuming you are one, your profile will include all of the information you enter into “Your Profile,” EXCEPT for your Private Personal Information: name, email address, phone and/or fax number, password

Do I have to include a photo in my profile?
Of course not! However, we do encourage our members to take advantage of the photo section. All members can post up to three pictures. We ask that you provide at least one current picture of yourself -- one that does a good job of capturing your “you-ness.” It’s best if the photo is clear, but it certainly doesn’t have to be professional. In fact, we recommend you use a picture that reflects you in a natural, relaxed state.

In addition to the main picture, we invite you to share one or two more -- perhaps a picture of yourself from a different angle or in a different setting, or a picture of a beloved cat, favorite vacation spot, or you as a child. Try approaching this process with the spirit of creativity and authenticity. Have fun! And remember: If you’re truly looking for a soul connection, it’s best to be yourself!

Note: As you search through other people’s profiles, remember that pictures can say a lot, but they never tell the whole story. Be open to recognizing a soul connection in the sparkle of an eye, the expression on a face, or a feeling in your belly. Often, the people we’re meant to be with don’t look at all like our “fantasy pictures.”

What guidelines should I follow when submitting a photo?

• We ask that you provide us with photos that are clear and no larger than 200k.
  
• We ask that you upload your photos in JPEG (.jpeg) format.
• If your photos are saved in another format, and no matter how hard you try, you can’t figure out how to switch the format, just email the photos to us or send them through snail mail to:

  Remember to include your SoulName!!! And if you want us to return the photo to you, send us a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
  
  
• We welcome both serious and silly pictures, as long as they are respectful. (Pornographic pictures and the like will not be posted.)
  
  

Can I hide my profile?
It’s easy to hide your profile. Just scroll to the bottom of the "My Profile" page and check the box that says, “Hide my profile from searches.” After checking the box, press the "Update My Profile" button at the bottom of the page. Now your profile is hidden. This means that your profile will not show up in any search results, including DreamCatcher searches. However, people on your List of Favorites will still be able to communicate with you. Your profile will stay hidden until you return to the "My Profile" page, uncheck the box and update your profile again.

What is the meaning of the rose?
We see the rose as a sweet symbol of curiosity, not a life time commitment.
Whenever you add someone to your List of Favorites, he or she automatically receives a virtual rose.
The rose and your SoulName appear on this person's List of Favorites.
Only Premium Members can send roses; all members can receive them.
